A Journey into Software Engineering.

Growing up, I assumed I would follow the regular path after high school of attending college, graduating, then finding a career in my field. Was this the case? No. Life had some unexpected curveballs headed in my direction. 5 years of high school, 1 year of unemployment, and 4 college semesters later, I find myself working as a manager at a local grocery store. Now, as great as working in customer service for $13 an hour is, I can’t help but feel like there is more out there for my future. I would love to have a career where I felt secure and wasn’t struggling to pay the bills. So, how do I get there? Naturally, my first thought was college, but college is expensive and time consuming for someone who is working full-time. My only option left was Google.

Searching for ways to make a living on the internet went just as well as you could expect. I wasn’t sure which sites were legit and if the information on them was accurate. It wasn’t until a friend suggested coding school to me that my luck took a turn for the better. With newfound hope, I started searching for online coding programs and stumbled across Flatiron School. After some quick research and few phone calls, I was enrolled to start a software engineering program in February.

Now, currently enrolled in the program, I have so much hope for the future! I am eager to dive into this program and get the most out of it. I am excited to see where this new path takes me in life, and I can’t wait to get there.
